Ideotype

  • Ideotype refers to plant type in which morphological and physiological characteristics are ideally suited to achieve high production potential and yield reliability.

Ideal Plant or Modal Plant

  • A type of plant, which increases growth and yield, is called ideal plant. An ideal plant should be healthy and free from pest and diseases. It should be robust and sturdy.
  • Plant should be dark green in colousr with high content of carbon and nitrogen.

Economic yield: It is a measure of the only economically utilizable parts of the crop e.g. grains in case of cereals, tuber, rhizomes, bulbs etc. are economic yield.
