a) Etiology:
- Caused by Myobacterium avium
b) Transmission:
- Manure of infected animal
c) Symptoms:
- Emaciation
- Unresponsive to antibiotics
- Normal stool with occasional diarrhea
- Low-grade fever
- Intermandibular edema
- Thickened small intestine
d) Diagnosis:
- Culture of feaces and tissue
- Microscopic examination of tissue
- Blood test, ELISA test
e) Control:
- Maintain sanitary environment.
- Clean udders or dams before nursing
- Move to “Clean pastures”.
- Vaccination
- Don’t graze sheep on contaminated pasture
